SGAUS Cyber Defense Academy
The United States has been engaged in cyber defense for decades, but there continues to be organizational and human gaps that leave the nation vulnerable. Cyber threats against public infrastructure are continuously growing, and present approaches are clearly insufficient.
The creation of a Cybersecurity Corps within the Title 32 USC §10
The United States has been engaged in cyber defense for decades, but there continues to be organizational and human gaps that leave the nation vulnerable. Cyber threats against public infrastructure are continuously growing, and present approaches are clearly insufficient.
The creation of a Cybersecurity Corps within the Title 32 USC §101-908 National Guard and State Guard forces is an innovative answer to many of these key needs. This corps will report to the Adjutant General of each sovereign U.S. state or territory within which its members serve. A Cybersecurity Corps can be modeled after a blend of cybersecurity organizations in other nations and proven models in other domains of security and safety inside the United States, such as the Civil Air Patrol, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Volunteer Firefighters, and Auxiliary Police. The overarching goal will be to better involve and mobilize the wider community of cyber citizen soldiers in closing gaps and shortfalls that are unlikely to be handled through existing federal, state, or territorial organizational structures.
